The Day Itself

The sun came out, forty bikes showed up, and we set off on time from the Cathedral, after a blessing by Diana Rattray, Associate Dean of the Christchurch Cathedral. Our route took us straight down Colombo Street to the foot of the Cashmere Hills, where we had a re-group in the car park at Princess Margaret Hospital before heading out towards Halswell and then in through Tai Tapu and Gebbies Pass and over to Diamond Harbour, where we all had a coffee, and where some who missed brekkie caught up on some nosh.

From there we rode back along the shoreline to the Wheatsheaf Tavern, where the lovely youngsters Susan works with had the barbecue well under way. The sausage sizzle went well and so did the auction of donated goods, and once that was done and dusted, those of us who were still keen headed off for the Valley in at Heathcote, for a final pint or two before disbanding for the day.

We raised a fantastic $1,850 for Susan, which included the funds from the rider entry fees, sausage sizzle, auction and public donations.

The Herceptin Riders, and of course the lovely Susan, would like to thank all those who supported this event in various ways. It was a good day out, thanks to those whose contributions made it all possible...
